E-Book: 45 proven Tools for Online Trainers and Facilitators

As an online trainer, I’ve tried almost a hundred tools. Time and again I have paid dearly expensive fees, and it is not uncommon for me to be disappointed by the providers who often make more promises than they deliver.

What began as a whitepaper for the German Trainer Association (BDVT) (and has since been downloaded over 1,000 times) has now been expanded into a small, free e-book for you. Our practical test is divided into six categories and offers you a shortcut through a whole jungle of online systems.

The categories are

  • 01 Simple, Effective Facilitation Tools
  • 02 Complex Online Whiteboards
  • 03 (Live) Quiz & Polling Tools
  • 04 Learning Management Tools
  • 05 Backstage Support & Video Hosting
  • 06 Video Conferencing Platforms

We have also taken the subject of GDPR into account and marked suitable tools with a 🛡️.

This eBook is designed as a table for each category: So you can easily look up if you need a tool for a specific purpose. The three columns of the table: Tool name {with an indication of the reason why we recommend it}, second column “My experiences” and a third column with a few comments on the tool. We only included tools that I tested myself and that have proven themselves after many hours of training.

We have included a ranking in almost all categories. From this you can see which tool I think is the best (second best etc.) in the respective category. This ranking is, of course, also my purely subjective assessment. For many tools we have also given some information about the current fees.
